Stanage News May 2017

Looking Back –

Year 3 children enjoyed their History topic ‘The Romans’ and the Look and Read ‘Legend of the Lost Keys’. They found out lots of interesting facts about ‘Weather around the world’ in Geography and learnt some news songs in Music, based on the pantomime ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. In Literacy they wrote some super reports on ‘Endangered Animals’ and they enjoyed their book study on ‘Bill’s New Frock’ by Anne Fine. Without doubt the highlight of the Spring Term was the African Artwork based on the work of Edwardo Tinga Tinga. He liked bright colours and patterns, as you can see from our African Line Art pictures and our African drum.

Looking Forward –

Our new History topic is ‘Children in Victorian Hathersage and Sheffield’ and we are all looking forward to spending a day at Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet next month, learning about ‘Homes, Toys and Games’. Our Art, DT and Geography this term will all be linked to the ‘The Victorians’. In Science we are finishing off our topic on ‘Moving, Growing and Healthy Eating’, before we study a unit on ‘Light’.

We have some lovely work displayed in the classroom linked to all areas of our learning this year. You are very welcome to come in and have a look!
