Stanage Struggle Fun Run 19.9.21
On Sunday 19th September we organised our annual, scenic, cross country Fun Run for children. This takes place alongside ‘The Stanage Struggle’, a challenging cross country run for adults.
This year we registered 48 children to complete the run.
They all made it back to the school field to rapturous applause, cake, ice cream and refreshments which was followed by an awards ceremony.
Medals, shields and certificates are presented to participants, many of whom are annual runners determined to improve their time from their attempts in previous years.
This is what some of our runners thought……
“It’s a nice run”
“It’s not too long”
“I manage to set a new PB (Personal Best) every year”
“It’s good for exercise”
“It’s great fun and challenging”
“It’s good fun, other schools should do it”
“The cake afterwards was yummy!”
“It’s a good route”
“It’s great that our school organise this”
Year 5 & Year 6 Football Tournament
On 20th September, two teams of Y6 footballers entered a Hope Valley Cluster Primary Schools tournament which took place at Hope Sports Ground. This was a 'Round-Robin' format so we played against lots of other local primary school teams.
Hathersage Team A achieved 3rd place and Hathersage Team B achieved 4th place.
Well done to all players for their team spirit!
Year 4 Football
All our Year 4 pupils enjoyed their experience of playing against other Primary School Teams. They all played extremely well and tried their very best demonstrating perseverance and team work.
We were delighted with the final scores - one team came 2nd and one came 4th. Well done Year 4 pupils!
On Friday 15th October at 9am, Mrs Garner, Mrs Wright, 56 very excited children and several parent helpers set off to Hope Valley College. Always a popular event, the HVPSSA Cross Country Competition attracts children from all the Primary Schools in the Hope Valley. Performances were amazing this year, with 11 of our children finishing in the top 3 places in their age group. Everyone completed the course and Hathersage won all 3 team events – KS1, Y3/4 and Year 5/6. In the Year 5/6 age group, 10 of our runners finished in the top 10 girls/ boys places and will now go on to represent the Hope Valley in the Derbyshire Partnership Finals. Thank you to all those who supported us at this event.
