Stanage Struggle
Every September the PTFA join forces with The Fat Boys Running Club to organise The Stanage Struggle and Fun Run for children. Despite the name, this is a very accessible race for adults and children.
The Fat Boys Stanage Struggle is based at the school field.
- The field is well signposted and easily visible from the main road.
- Free car parking is available in the field adjacent to the start/finish.
- Registration, changing and toilets are undercover in the school buildings.
- Refreshments are provided by the PTFA
All funds raised from this event go to local good causes and the school.

Fun Run
We also organise a Fun Run for children alongside the Stanage Struggle at the same time. It's a shorter length (1.6miles) and less hilly aimed at any age and fitness level.
There are 5 categories with medals and trophies awarded for each group.
Registration from 10am, leave the field at 10.50am for the start at 11am.
Thank you to all those involved - another great event.
Well done on your achievements!
Bonfire Night
Every Novemeber we organise a popular bonfire night for the local community. It is a very well attended event and a fantastic way to not only raise money, but to also see the wider community enjoying what our school has to offer.
Overview of PTFA Policies & Procedures
The PTFA is an independent voluntary organisation, consisting of parents, supported by friends, teachers and the school. Our purpose is to support the school in improving and augmenting the facilities already in place.
In order to achieve our purpose, the PTFA recognises that the:
- Money raised coming from PTFA events which are held in a safe and well-managed way.
- All PTFA profit is spent on improving experiences of pupils at the Hathersage St. Michael’s CE (A) Primary School.
- Committee members declare any interests that conflict with the PTFA purpose.
Holding events and dealing with finance means that there are risks to be managed & mitigated. The PTFA has therefore decided to adopt the following policies & procedures to ensure that our purpose is achieved, namely:
- Risk Management (Physical
- Risk Management (Financial)
- Conflict of Interests
- Complaints handling
- DPA protection for members
- Safeguarding children
Members of the PTFA Committee have agreed the above PTFA policies and procedures.
These policies will be available on the school web-site and all Committee members are responsible for making themselves aware of our duties and polices.
The PTFA will review our policies annually.
Amendments will be made on a simple majority of the Committee and in the event of a tie the Chairman will have a casting vote.
